The inaugural day of the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav saw an incredible turnout, with a massive crowd flocking to the grounds of Rashtrapati Nilayam. As reported by officials, this event, dedicated to celebrating the rich and diverse cultures of India’s North-Eastern states, kicked off with a captivating dance performance titled "Colours of the Northeast," featuring traditional dances from all eight states of the region. The state pavilions emerged as a significant draw, attracting visitors eager to explore and purchase local handicrafts. These vibrant stalls, showcasing the rich artisanal traditions of the Northeast, mesmerised attendees with their authenticity and craftsmanship.
A key highlight of the day was the live demonstration zone, where visitors could engage in various indigenous crafts, including lotus silk weaving, pottery, and basket weaving. This hands-on experience quickly became a crowd favourite, providing attendees with a deeper appreciation of the North East's cultural heritage, according to a senior official.
Another impressive attraction was the breathtaking Ashtalakshmi rangoli, which visually represented the eight states and captivated visitors with its beauty. The Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav will run until October 6. Tickets can be booked online at visit.rashtrapatisav.gov.in or purchased at the venue. Officials stated that to enhance convenience, shuttle bus services are also provided from Paradise Metro station to Rashtrapati Nilayam.
